Gruyère Grilled Cheese on Asiago Bread

Ingredients & Directions

  • 1 tablespoon fig preserves or fig jam
  • 2 slices
  • 2 ounces Gruyère cheese, shredded (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Spread the preserves on 1 bread slice.  Top with the cheese and the remaining bread slice.

Melt the butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat.  Add the sandwich and cook for 5 minutes or until lightly browned on both sides and the cheese is melted.

Tips

Easy Substitution: You can substitute Swiss cheese for the Gruyère and raspberry preserves for the fig preserves, if you prefer.
